Village near Moscow enveloped in chemical smell after workshop fire

On Wednesday, January 28, a plastic molding workshop caught fire in the village of Dukhanino, Istrinsky District. The fire spread across nearly four thousand square meters. Thick, chemical smoke is spreading over the settlement.

It is known that the fire quickly engulfed a single-story T-shaped warehouse building about five meters high. Rescuers stated that the fire area is more than 3.7 thousand square meters. Firefighters and emergency services have been working at the site since morning.

«According to preliminary initial data, the fire started from stove heating that workers were using for warmth. There are no casualties. Currently, the fire has been assigned a rank 2 complexity,» said head Tatiana Vitushkova.
Meanwhile, the head of the Istra municipal district recommended that locals do not go outside and close windows at home to reduce the intake of combustion products into the premises. Those who still smell it in their apartments are advised to use respirators and masks.
Now, control over the situation has been taken not only by firefighters but also by supervisory authorities. The prosecutor«s office has initiated an inspection into the fire. They have to assess the damage and find out the causes of the fire.
Earlier, a serious fire occurred at an electrical substation in northwest Moscow. Local residents from their house windows noticed a bright flash, sparks, and smoke.
