Chicken Prices Soar in Samara, Store Survey Shows

Residents of Samara have complained about rising food prices. People in the region have noticed that chicken meat has literally soared in price. The editorial team of 63.RU went on a raid to popular stores and found out how much whole chickens, fillets, breasts, thighs, drumsticks, and wings cost now.

According to SamaraStat, the greatest price increase in Samara Oblast in 2025 was recorded for chicken and fish. We are interested in chicken: from January to October 2025, chilled and frozen poultry meat became 25.3% more expensive compared to October 2024.

Economist Nikolai Kulbaka told our colleagues from MSK1.RU why prices have risen.

«Feed, equipment — many factors. High demand for chicken also played a role, because other meat is becoming more expensive. Everything will gradually become more expensive,» the expert explained.

We checked chicken meat prices in the stores «Auchan», «Pobeda», «Pyaterochka», «Magnit», and «Privoz».

«Auchan»

The supermarket has a lot of chicken meat. Let«s start with whole chickens. Those labeled halal cost from 229 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates) to 299 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates).

«Kurinoe tsarstvo» sells whole chickens for 249 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates). Alfoor is more expensive — 279 rubles per kilo (about $3 at current rates).

«Petelinka» costs 259 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates). This is the discounted price: the regular one is 299. «Nasha ptichka» is quite budget-friendly: a kilogram can be bought for 209 rubles (about $2 at current rates).

The most cost-effective option is a broiler chicken from the brand «Kazhdy den» — 179 rubles per kilogram of product (about $2 at current rates).

Prices for chicken fillet are also biting: the cheapest specimen is 219 rubles per kilo (about $2 at current rates). «Latifa» costs from 554 to 589 rubles (about $6 at current rates), «An-Nur» — 579 (about $6 at current rates). A budget option from the company «Agrosila» will cost the buyer 349 rubles per kilogram (about $4 at current rates).

The cheapest is the own brand of «Auchan». For a kilogram of product, they ask 399 rubles (about $4 at current rates). «Petelinka» on discount will cost 449 rubles (about $5 at current rates), and «Selo Zelenoe» — 479 (about $5 at current rates).

Prices for thigh fillet are really biting: the maximum cost of such a product reaches 600 rubles (about $7 at current rates).

«Nasha ptichka» will cost buyers 499 rubles per kilogram (about $6 at current rates). «Kurinoe tsarstvo» — 539 rubles (about $6 at current rates). «Agrosila» is sold for 439 rubles per kilogram (about $5 at current rates). The most expensive fillet is «Petelinka». For a kilogram of product, you will have to pay as much as 599 rubles (about $7 at current rates).

Drumsticks are also not cheap: depending on the manufacturer, the price varies from 229 to 379 rubles (about $3-$4 at current rates). «Latifa» costs 359 rubles per kilo (about $4 at current rates), «An-Nur» — 379 (about $4 at current rates). Here, thigh fillet from «Agrosila» is also mixed in. Its price is 279 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates). Thigh with backbone can be bought for 259 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates) on discount. The price before the promotion is 299 rubles (about $3 at current rates).

Wings are the cheapest: the price for this product starts from 119 rubles — this is the most budget option (about $1 at current rates).

Thighs with backbone from «Nashei ptichki» on promotion cost the same as «Kazhdy den» — 199 rubles per kilogram (about $2 at current rates). Wings from «Nashei ptichki» without discount would cost buyers 419 rubles (about $5 at current rates). Now there is a discount, they can be bought for 299 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates).

«Magnit»

In this store, the selection is smaller.

A broiler chicken from the manufacturer «Akashevo» costs 174 rubles per kilogram (about $2 at current rates).

«Selo Zelenoe» is more expensive: 249 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates).

«Pobeda»
The grocery discounter offers a chicken from «Akashevo» at a price of 184 rubles per kilogram (about $2 at current rates). The halal option is ten rubles more expensive.
Thigh fillet «Akashevo» costs 144 rubles per kilogram (about $2 at current rates), breast from the same manufacturer will cost 274 rubles (about $3 at current rates). «Nasha ptichka» is more expensive — 369 rubles per kilogram (about $4 at current rates). Drumstick «Akashevo» is sold for 189 rubles per kilogram (about $2 at current rates).
«Privoz»
The meat shop has never been known for low prices. Promotions and discounts here are rare. A kilogram of «Lux» drumsticks here costs 329 rubles (about $4 at current rates), chicken breast — 329 (about $4 at current rates), and fillet — 429 (about $5 at current rates).
Chicken wings cost in «Privoz» 279 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates). For drumsticks and thighs, they ask for 10 rubles more. A kilogram of drumsticks can be purchased for 319 rubles (about $4 at current rates).
A chicken from Mordovia will cost 295 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates), and «Domashnyaya» — 349 (about $4 at current rates).
«Pyaterochka»
The chain of «near-home» stores turned out to be even cheaper than the discounter «Pobeda». A broiler chicken from «Akashevo» is sold here for 164 rubles per kilogram (about $2 at current rates).
Chicken breast from the manufacturer «Myaso ptitsy iz Mariy El» costs 289 rubles per kilogram (about $3 at current rates). But products nearing their expiration date can be bought for 189, 173, or 159 rubles (about $2 at current rates).
Thigh fillet has already been snapped up by buyers. In «Pyaterochka», this product costs 219 rubles per kilogram (about $2 at current rates).
