The administration of Rostov-on-Don announced the extension of free attendance at city schools for Thursday, February 4. The decision is due to persistent adverse weather conditions — snowfall and low temperatures. This information was published in the comments to Mayor Alexander Skryabin«s post.

Educational institutions continue to operate as usual, but the final decision on attending lessons remains with parents. At the same time, schools where heating disruptions occurred due to an accident on the thermal main have temporarily switched to distance learning.
The measures were taken against the backdrop of serious transport difficulties caused by heavy snowfall on February 2. The city faced a transport collapse of a scale not seen in a long time. For six hours, Rostov recorded traffic jams of maximum intensity at ten points. Many residents on the evening of February 2 took several hours to get home along snow-covered streets, some had to walk. Cars often got stuck on the roadway, and drivers were helped out by other road users. On the morning of February 3, the road situation remained tense, with congestion levels estimated at nine points.
