More than half a century ago, on November 1, a terrible tragedy occurred in the sky approaching Surgut: an An-2 plane and a Mi-8 helicopter collided with each other. The first was later found in the forest, the second in a frozen swamp. All 38 passengers on board died upon impact with the ground.

This aviation disaster is now considered one of the largest in the history of the USSR. But at that time, it, like many other tragedies, was kept out of the public eye. Only recently did a resident of Surgut find new details about that fateful day. We tell the story in this article.

Residents of the North are more susceptible to skin diseases than others. Dry air, frosty winters, and hot summers overload the skin. Because of this, people in Yugra often face psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, and other ailments.

The danger of skin diseases lies not only in their effect on appearance. Because of them, joint problems, depression, and more can start. For example, patients suffering from psoriasis often sleep poorly—itching gets in the way.

We decided to talk with dermatologist Yekaterina Mezenova from Yugra about what triggers skin diseases and how to protect your health. Read more in this article.

The new subject of our favorite column ‘Fashion Check’, where we analyze the wardrobes of famous Yugra residents, this time is Surgut Mayor Maksim Slepov. He has held his position for 1.5 years already, and in that time has shown plenty of classic shirts, ties, and business suits.

But sometimes the city head appears in public in more interesting outfits. Thus, Slepov was seen in a nice dark blue coat that closely resembles a double-sided coat from the Italian brand Brunello Cucinelli. The cost of such a coat is 167,000 rubles (about $1,700 at current rates). And recently, the mayor of Surgut supported a local brand and stepped out in a hoodie with the inscription ‘Surgut: oil in my veins’. To find out what else Slepov has been spotted in (we mean clothing!), check out this article.

Surgut State University is the largest university in Yugra, welcoming thousands of students and teachers within its walls every day. During breaks between classes, they are drawn to their favorite spot—the cafeteria.

The menu consists of breakfasts, salads, soups, main courses, side dishes, and drinks—something for every taste so no one leaves hungry. Thus, boiled eggs cost 35 rubles (about $0 at current rates), sausages—65 rubles (about $1), ‘Friendship’ porridge—60 rubles (about $1). But there are also more interesting items: for example, pork shashlik for students comes out to 190 rubles per 100 grams (about $2). And an oxygen cocktail—100 rubles (about $1).

86.RU visited the university cafeteria and found out what else students are fed.
