A crane operator at AO «Razrez Kharanorsky» (part of the Siberian Coal Energy Company, SUEK) died at his workplace in the Transbaikal region. The State Labor Inspectorate of the region reported this to a Chita.Ru correspondent on January 30.
The Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK) is one of the largest energy companies in the world, and also a major taxpayer in the Transbaikal region. In the region, the company«s assets include the »Kharanorsky« coal mine in the Borzinsky district and the »Vostochny« mine in the Uletovsky district (where the Tataurovskoye brown coal deposit is located). Moreover, the company owns the Apsatskoye deposit in the Kalarsky district— this is the second largest coking coal deposit in Russia.
The inspectorate has launched an investigation into the fatal accident that occurred on January 28, 2026, involving a crane operator at AO «Razrez Kharanorsky». According to the notification, the victim was pinned between the cabin and the engine compartment of a reloader.
«The circumstances and causes of the accident are being established by a commission formed by the employer,» the inspectorate reported.
A representative of AO «Razrez Kharanorsky» confirmed the fact of the accident in a conversation with a Chita.Ru correspondent on January 31: «Indeed, a death occurred. But until the official investigation is completed, we cannot provide any comments. After the investigation, everything will be clear.»
