Russia«s youth football team could face opponents in a UEFA tournament in Volgograd. A possible visit by the athletes is expected in April this year.

As reported by the Russian Football Union (RFU), two cities were considered for international tournaments where our national teams will participate: Sochi and Volgograd.

In Volgograd and Sochi, Russia«s youth football teams will play in tournaments with the national flag and anthem. The first tournament in March will be hosted by Sochi. It will feature girls» teams under 16. The opponents for our team will be determined soon, reports the RFU. The second tournament in April will be hosted by Volgograd. Alongside our boys, the national teams of Serbia, Ghana, and Kazakhstan will participate.

Recall that the last major football match in Volgograd took place in October last year. The Russian national team met with the Iranian national team. The match, which gathered a record number of fans — 42,387 people — ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the Russian footballers.
