Former Traktor coach Benoit Groulx finds job in Switzerland

Former Traktor head coach Benoit Groulx has been hired as the coach of Swiss hockey club Zug, as announced on the team«s official website on Wednesday, January 21.
Benoit Groulx joins Zug at a difficult time. Recently, the team has been showing unsatisfactory performance, according to a statement on personnel changes. The previous coach Michael Liniger decided to leave, and Groulx is set to replace him.
«We supported Michael Liniger in every way. However, in the end, as head coach, he was responsible for the team and its results,» said general manager Patrick Lengwiler. «Unfortunately, he was unable to sufficiently move the team forward and provide stability.»
The club clarified that they expect Benoit Groulx to arrive on Thursday, January 22.
Recall that Canadian Benoit Groulx left Traktor in November 2025, stating that he was physically and mentally tired, but thanked the city, team, and fans for their support. His duties were temporarily performed by assistant Raphael Richel, but he also left Chelyabinsk on December 8, signing a contract with Avangard. On December 16, Yevgeny Koreshkov became the head coach of Traktor.
