Expert reveals the best months to take vacation in 2026
The New Year holidays are over, so it«s time to think about vacation. Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation (OP RF), has named the months when it»s best to take your well-deserved time off.
«If the amount of vacation pay is important to the employee, then it is better to take vacation in the months with more working days: in 2026, these are April, July, September, October, December,» the expert explained to TASS.
He stressed that the «cost» of a working day and a vacation day differs. Salary is calculated for days actually worked. Vacation pay, however, is calculated for all calendar days except holidays, based on the average earnings over the past year.
«If an employee needs more days off, then it is profitable to take vacation in May 2026, as this month has state holidays. According to the Russian Labor Code, holidays are not counted as part of vacation, so the employee will spend fewer vacation days or extend their rest. If a vacation falls on official holidays, it is extended,» Masharov added.
If you haven«t yet decided where to go on vacation, it»s worth noting that it will become easier to travel to some countries. Russia will expand air service to popular resorts.
