Two volunteer hubs torched in Nizhny Tagil
Two fires broke out at volunteer centers collecting humanitarian aid for participants of the special military operation (SVO) in Nizhny Tagil. The affected centers are the «Iskra Zhizni» (Spark of Life) and «Vremya Deistvovat» (Time to Act) headquarters. Both are located on the same street: the first at 55 Vogulskaya Street, the second at 39 Vogulskaya Street (Building 1).
A reader of E1.RU reported that while firefighters were extinguishing the fire at «Iskra Zhizni», the «Vremya Deistvovat» headquarters caught fire. Unidentified individuals broke the windows and poured in an incendiary mixture. The fire reportedly started on January 28 at 21:00.
The volunteers themselves are convinced it was arson.
«The first floor was completely burned out, and the packages prepared for shipment were destroyed. There were packages for three soldiers, exactly. We are currently sorting through everything after the fire. The duty dispatch service has already reported that it was arson,» the «Iskra Zhizni» volunteer center told E1.RU.
The volunteers at «Vremya Deistvovat» were more fortunate: on the same day, they managed to send several large packages to Donetsk.
«We shipped six orders yesterday, we managed to do as much as we could, and in the evening we were loading the vehicle. There were no volunteers left in the headquarters, and fortunately, no one was injured,» Irina Vedernikova, the head of the volunteer center, told E1.RU.
The press service of the Sverdlovsk Region Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) confirmed the information about the fires at the collection points. At «Iskra Zhizni», window frames and property on the first floor burned over an area of 20 square meters. The fire was extinguished in 13 minutes and there were no casualties.
At «Vremya Deistvovat», the fire area was 3 square meters, and the windows and items on the first floor caught fire. The fire was put out in two minutes.
The causes of the fire are still being investigated.
