There is an opinion that life begins at 40. For many people this age often becomes a turning point — some take up a new hobby, others give up bad habits and choose to go to the gym, some start a family, and some buy a dacha or a motorcycle. Tyumen residents told us what changes happened in their lives between the ages of 35 and 40. Read their true stories below.
«After 45, life changes! You look at life differently: you notice more beautiful little things that you don«t pay attention to when you»re young. And your brain starts to appear too,» our reader shared.
«I«m 44. Last year I married a man 10 years younger. I go to the gym, and I»ve always had some kind of creative hobby my whole life; right now it«s rattan — a material for weaving that is often made from the stems of climbing palms of the Calamus family. My daughter has grown up, she graduated from school with a gold medal this year, she»s all grown up now. To live and be an adult with your own goals — that«s wonderful,» a local woman told us.
«I«m 50. I»m preparing for a divorce — my husband has acquired a 30-year-old «friend»,» a Tyumen woman reported on the sad note in her life.
«At 39 I gave birth to my third child. At 48 I learned to build a basic wardrobe and replaced mine completely. I stopped worrying about my weight, even though it«s 62 kilograms (137 lb). Now I like myself more than I did at 30–35,» the woman wrote.
«Two years ago I gave up all my bad habits. And I had a wagonload of them, plus a little cart. And in December I even bought my first apartment,» a local woman said.
«Personally, I only started living at 40!!! I divorced my first wife — it was a hard separation. A month later I realized what freedom from the daily grind really is. For 30 years now I«ve been enjoying life and living like a human being,» a man said.
«For me, the best part of turning 40 was this: I finished building the house, paid off my debts, the kids were past the age of asking for the breast[t]. At work everything settled down, stable good money was coming in as a specialist. We started actively traveling to the seaside: Turkey, Egypt, Crimea, Sochi. Next year I«ll turn 50; for now I»m still plugging away, I lost 12 kilograms (26 lb) in two months — it immediately got easier,» a Tyumen man summed up.
If you think it«s hard to just up and change your life or live actively in your mature years — you»re very much mistaken. There are several examples of this. Not long ago we wrote about Tyumen resident Anna Skifskaya. She has worked as a teacher at Tyumen Industrial University for decades. But that«s her main job, and right after classes the 52-year-old Tyumen woman rushes to the gym to train her charges.
Anna recently became a grandmother and isn«t shy about her new status, though calling her that doesn»t exactly roll off the tongue — the Tyumen woman does boxing, trains mothers, and runs marathons and half-marathons in the mountains. We tell the story of how she became an athlete and what the secret of her strength and youth is in our video. And we«ve already told Anna Skifskaya»s full story earlier — follow this link and read it.
Arkhangelsk resident Olga Pankina decided to fulfill her long-held dream when she retired — she took part in a beauty contest. And she did become a queen — on her third attempt she won the main crown of the «Miss and Mrs Great Rus Pomorye — 2026» contest and is now preparing to represent the Arkhangelsk region at the national final in St. Petersburg. Olga told 29.RU what the contest gave her and who her main support is. Find the text at this link.
