Two Die in Crash on Tyumen–Khanty-Mansiysk Highway

A fatal road traffic accident occurred today at the 500-kilometer mark of the Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway. The deaths were reported by the press service of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) of the Tyumen Region.
According to preliminary information, a Lada Granta passenger car with Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug license plates veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a Volvo truck. The agency explained: «A Volvo heavy truck and a Lada Granta with Yugra license plates collided here. Preliminary information suggests the Lada entered the oncoming lane. The driver and a passenger of the Lada died in the accident; their identities are being established.»
Traffic police officers are currently working at the scene of the accident.
Traffic on the highway has not been blocked; however, weather conditions remain difficult: snowfall continues, severely reducing visibility. The GIBDD urges drivers to be extra vigilant, recommends avoiding risky overtaking maneuvers, and advises reducing speed.
It is worth recalling that a case was previously recorded in Tyumen where a woman, attempting to run across the roadway outside a crosswalk, tripped and fell under the wheels of a car. After the impact, she was thrown several meters but survived.
