Loud bangs reported in major Yaroslavl auto service center fire

In Yaroslavl, an auto service center at 20/3 Sakharova Street burned down overnight on January 20. Witnesses posted photos and videos of the fire on social networks. The posts mentioned that loud bangs were heard during the blaze.

The blaze broke out late on January 19 and continued into the early hours of January 20.

«There were very loud bangs,» a resident of a building on Sakharova Street told the 76.RU portal.

Video footage from the scene showed emergency services working to extinguish the fire.

As reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for the Yaroslavl region, the emergency call was received at 11:04 p.m. MSK.

«Upon the arrival of firefighting units, there was open burning of the auto service center. Preliminarily, there were cars and gas cylinders inside the premises,» EMERCOM stated.

A total of 32 rescuers and 12 fire trucks were deployed at the scene. The fire was localized over an area of 300 square meters at 00:03 a.m. MSK. Open burning was extinguished by 00:23 a.m. MSK. The fire was fully extinguished by 2:40 a.m. MSK.

The fire damaged the auto service center building, destroyed property inside, and damaged two outbuildings. Eight passenger cars were burned, and three more cars were damaged.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by EMERCOM Russia«s inquiry officers.
