A major fire broke out at the Tulaka construction supply base in the Sovetsky District of Volgograd. The flames completely destroyed at least five pavilions selling construction materials, plumbing supplies, and work tools. The blaze covered an area of 1,500 square meters (approximately 16,000 square feet) and required firefighters all night to extinguish it.

The incident started on the evening of January 27 on 25th Anniversary of October Street. Initially, a warehouse caught fire, after which the flames quickly spread to a neighboring retail pavilion.

According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), wall cladding and stored goods were burning. The fire area expanded from 1,000 to 1,500 square meters. Extinguishing efforts were complicated by a high combustible load. The fire was only fully extinguished at 2:40 a.m.

As base employees explained, the fire started after the stores had closed, so there were no casualties. A faulty electrical system is considered the likely cause.

«I saw that a lot burned down, at least five pavilions were completely destroyed, down to the ground. It»s a real big misfortune. This happened in the evening when there was no one here anymore. All shops work until 7:00 p.m. There were no casualties,« an employee recounted. »We don«t know exactly what caused the fire. From what people are saying, something happened with the wiring. This morning, an ambulance and firefighters were on duty here, but then everyone left. Now everything is calm here, everything is extinguished, it»s just all frozen in puddles.«
