On January 28, information spread on social media that three departments at Karsun District Hospital were allegedly closing: gynecology, pediatrics, and the anesthesiology-resuscitation department. The news caused serious concern among residents of the working settlement, who would be left without necessary specialist doctors.

In an official comment, representatives of the regional Ministry of Health stated that no decision had been made to close the departments.

“From January 1, 2026, an acute situation arose at Karsun District Hospital due to insufficient provision of obstetricians-gynecologists. In connection with this, patients of the gynecology department requiring round-the-clock medical supervision are temporarily being redirected to Veshkayma District Hospital. Meanwhile, outpatient care at the hospital is being provided, and the day hospital is also operating normally. The administration of the institution, together with the Ulyanovsk Ministry of Health, is taking all necessary measures to attract specialists. The closure of the pediatrics, anesthesiology, and resuscitation departments is not planned,” explained the department.

Recall that Karsun District Hospital was founded back in 1867, when the first medics appeared here by decision of the local zemstvo assembly. The modern treatment building was built in 1975, and in 1988, an outpatient clinic building was added. Here, 40 doctors, 295 mid-level medical workers, and 211 workers of other specialties are employed. The entire Karsun district uses the hospital«s services.
