Criminal Case Opened After Intestinal Infection Outbreak in Nyagan Kindergarten

Law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal case after a mass outbreak of acute intestinal infection among pupils of the kindergarten «Teremok» in Nyagan. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor«s office of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO).

Recall that salmonellosis was detected in the institution. Four children were taken to the hospital, tests were taken from other pupils, and doctors are monitoring their condition. According to examination results, all kindergarten staff were found to be healthy. An epidemiological investigation is being conducted to identify the source of infection.

«According to preliminary data, on 19 January 2026, 14 people sought medical help with suspected acute intestinal infection. Currently, medical assistance is being provided to the pupils,» reports the supervisory authority.

The criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of sanitary-epidemiological rules resulting in mass illness due to negligence). The prosecutor«s office of Nyagan is also conducting an inspection. The causes and conditions that led to the mass illness are being clarified.

Earlier we wrote that Bastrykin ordered a criminal case to be opened due to critically dirty water in a settlement of KhMAO. According to residents, the problem has persisted for several years.
