Heat cut on St. Petersburg's reclaimed land amid frost

On Saturday morning, January 31, the temperature of radiators in apartments of residential complexes on the reclaimed territories of Vasilyevsky Island and nearby streets dropped sharply. As readers told Fontanka, management companies had warned about a reduction in heat supply.
The management company «Svetly Mir» in the residential complex «Ya Romantik» distributed a notice:
Due to repair work by JSC Teploset St. Petersburg from 23:00 on January 30, 2026, to 05:00 on February 1, 2026, a decrease in heat supply parameters is expected. During this period, interruptions in the heating and hot water supply systems are possible.
According to the press service of the heat supply company, the reason is the elimination of a technological violation on the supply pipeline on Nakhimov Street. Specialists are replacing a section of the main pipe with a diameter of 1000 mm. These works have led to a decrease in the parameters of the heat carrier in the distribution network.
One resident said that problems started even at night:
I«m sitting by the radiator in warm pants and a sweater — I»m freezing.
The outage coincided with severe frosts. On January 31, temperatures in the city were expected to drop to -20 degrees Celsius (-4°F), and cold weather, according to forecasts, persisted into Sunday, February 1.
