19-Year-Old Driver Staged Drift Show Near Gazprom Arena

Traffic police halted an extreme driving attempt in a VAZ-2105 near the Gazprom Arena. The 19-year-old motorist was issued citations and his car was impounded.

On January 31, on Krestovsky Island near the Gazprom Arena stadium, police interrupted an unauthorized drifting performance in a VAZ-2105.

The young man, who had turned 19, was detained. His car was moved to a specialized impound lot, and the driver himself was sent for a medical examination.

Administrative charges were filed against the motorist under Part 1 of Article 12.5 and Article 12.37 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences. They were issued for driving a vehicle with defects and for not having a valid compulsory third-party liability insurance (OSAGO) policy.

The traffic police of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region noted that special sites are equipped in the region for such practices. Any attempts to organize unauthorized races within the city and region will be immediately suppressed.

The day before, in the Vsevolozhsky District of the Leningrad Region, a minor drift enthusiast was detained for a similar violation. A video of his sharp driving and the subsequent chase was posted on the official Telegram channel of the Traffic Police Department.
