In Volgograd, students in schools, gymnasiums, and lyceums are freezing during lessons in unheated classrooms. Complaints have been coming in since morning from students and their parents from almost every district of the city. Some residents have not risked their children«s health and have kept them at home to warm up under heaters.

«School No. 3, Krasnooktyabrsky District, is also cold. Especially the English classroom—the radiators are icy.»

«School No. 88, Traktorozavodsky District, children have been forced not to attend school for the third day. We are studying at home and with tutors! If it»s just cold in the apartment, at school it«s FREEZING!»

«In Krasnoarmeysky District, School No. 125, it»s cold in the classrooms, the radiators are cold!«

«In Gymnasium No. 16 of Traktorozavodsky District, it»s also a freezer. Lessons are not being shortened. They study, as always, without jackets.«

«School No. 33, Dzerzhinsky District, children are freezing. Teachers are sitting in fur coats in the classroom.»

Moreover, complaints about the cold in school classrooms are coming from various districts of the region as well.

«Kalachevsky District, khutor Lozhki—the school is 4–7 degrees Celsius (39–45°F), many parents are not letting their children go to school, and I won»t even mention the kindergarten. It«s both cold and there»s an unbearable stench, many children have a gag reflex, but the management just throws up their hands.«

Similar complaints came earlier from parents of students at School No. 19, where parents were allegedly forced to buy heaters for the classrooms. Utility workers assured that the problem was in the malfunction of the school«s internal heating networks, while the school principal, in turn, lamented that it was precisely because of the »Concessions« that children were freezing during lessons.

We are collecting the chronicles of the freezing city and the response to the complaints from outraged residents by officials and representatives of the heat-responsible «Concessions» in our online coverage.
