On 4 November 2025, it became known about the death of Yuri Nikolaev. The TV host, who hosted legendary music programs, was 76 years old.

Officially, his family did not inform TASS about the cause of death. However, it is known that Nikolaev had long-standing health problems. He was battling a severe lung disease and had been hospitalized because of it.

In 2024, Nikolaev experienced fainting and pulmonary edema. At that time, doctors were able to help him. Unfortunately, in 2025 the situation worsened. According to the Telegram channel SHOT, Nikolaev was diagnosed with lung cancer several years ago.

“Yuri Alexandrovich was a heavy smoker, and against the background of this harmful habit, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. In mid-October, he was hospitalized. The People«s Artist was experiencing shortness of breath and also had severe dizziness. The artist also underwent a serious hip operation in 2024 after a fall, and in the same year he was diagnosed with COVID-19,” writes SHOT.

The entire country knew Nikolaev for his participation in music programs. You surely remember their names — ‘Morning Mail’, ‘Morning Star’, and ‘Heritage of the Republic’.
