Man accused of beating boy shaved mustache before police

The incident occurred on Saturday, January 17, when 13-year-old Vlastimir was riding snow scooters with a friend at the Uktus ski resort in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

During one of the descents, the teenager failed to avoid people on the slope and collided with a woman who was there with her husband, 38-year-old Yakov Shusharin.

Shusharin immediately attacked the boy and began beating him. This episode was captured on surveillance camera footage.

The Sverdlovsk Investigative Committee has charged the Yekaterinburg resident under Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code, «Hooliganism».

«The accused inflicted multiple blows on the victim, causing harm to his health, the severity of which is currently being determined through a forensic medical examination,» said the Sverdlovsk Investigative Committee. «After the act, the man fled the crime scene.»

Yakov Shusharin was detained after voluntarily appearing at the 13th police department. The issue of imposing a pretrial restraint measure on him is currently being decided.

«The man named Yakov, who works in marketing at a commercial company, behaved calmly and did not put on airs, so to speak,» said Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region. «He immediately admitted his guilt and expressed to investigators his willingness to answer for his unreasonable act. It was obvious that he was well-prepared for the visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And until that moment, he probably hoped he wouldn»t be identified, as he had gotten a new hairstyle and shaved off his noticeable thick dark mustache, which had been visible in photos on the internet.«

At the time of the incident, Shusharin was at Uktus with his wife, where they were teaching their young daughter to ski.
