A military court in Chita has sentenced a serviceman who deserted and then robbed a jewelry store at knifepoint.

The Chita Garrison Military Court announced a guilty verdict for a serviceman who evaded military service and then robbed a jewelry store. This was reported on January 29 in the court«s Telegram channel.
The court found that the serviceman decided to evade military service and on June 16, 2025, did not show up for duty, but went home and attended to his own affairs.
Later, on July 4, he asked a salesperson in one of the jewelry stores to show him several bracelets made of precious metals, and then, threatening with a knife, stole jewelry worth over 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,300 at current rates) and ran away.
Four days after the incident, police found and detained him.
The court, for the totality of crimes, imposed a punishment of six years« imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime correctional colony.
