Primorye weekend forecast: snow, ice, and gusty winds

The frost will weaken, but the region will be covered by snow and stormy wind
On January 30, a sharp change in weather began in Primorye: an upper-level cyclone moved over the region. It will bring an increase in precipitation area, while extreme frosts gradually subside, Primgidromet (the Primorsky Hydrometeorological Service) reported.
On Friday, light snow will fall in a number of districts, with snowpack and ice expected on roads. The north wind will increase to moderate, and on the coast it will become strong in places, with gusts up to 20 meters per second.
According to forecasters, on the night to Friday, the temperature in the region rose to -18…-23 °C (-0.4…-9.4 °F), while in mountain areas severe cold persisted down to -24…-30 °C (-11.2…-22 °F). On the coast, it is significantly warmer, down to -12…-17 °C (10.4…1.4 °F).
During the day, thermometers will rise by several degrees. The daytime temperature will be -9…-14 °C (15.8…6.8 °F), on the coast — up to -5…-8 °C (23…17.6 °F).
In Vladivostok on Friday, no precipitation is expected despite the cyclone«s approach. The air temperature during the day will rise to -9…-11 °C (15.8…12.2 °F), in the morning the frost reached -16…-18 °C (3.2…-0.4 °F). The wind is northerly, at times strong, but by the weekend a warming of 1–2 degrees is expected.
In Ussuriysk, variable cloudiness, predominantly without precipitation. In the morning down to -25 °C (-13 °F), during the day -10…-12 °C (14…10.4 °F). In Nakhodka, clear and without snow, in the morning -15…-17 °C (5…1.4 °F), during the day -8…-10 °C (17.6…14 °F).
According to the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, dry weather without precipitation will set in in Vladivostok. At night -14…-16 °C (6.8…3.2 °F), during the day -6…-9 °C (21.2…15.8 °F). The wind is northerly, moderate.
Overall in Primorsky Krai on Saturday, snow will fall, and on Sunday most of the territory will be under the influence of cold but more stable air.
On January 31, the weather in Primorsky Krai will remain under the influence of northern flows of cold air. At night in the region, light snow will fall in places, with precipitation probability up to 60%. During the day, snow will persist only in separate districts, with precipitation probability dropping to 40%.
The air temperature at night will drop to -19…-24 °C (-2.2…-11.2 °F), on the coast and in the east of the region it will be warmer, down to -11…-16 °C (12.2…3.2 °F). During the day, -7…-12 °C (19.4…10.4 °F) is expected, in the southwest and coastal territories — up to -1…-6 °C (30.2…21.2 °F).
The wind is northerly, 6–11 meters per second, on the coast at night and in the morning gusts will reach 20 meters per second, which will create a feeling of stronger cold. No dangerous atmospheric phenomena are forecast, however on roads snowpack and ice are possible.
On February 1, weather conditions in Primorsky Krai will become more stable. At night, light snow will persist in places with probability up to 40%, during the day precipitation will practically cease — probability will not exceed 10%.
The air temperature at night will be -18…-23 °C (-0.4…-9.4 °F), on the coast and in the east -11…-16 °C (12.2…3.2 °F). During the day, thermometers will show -7…-12 °C (19.4…10.4 °F), in coastal areas — up to -1…-6 °C (30.2…21.2 °F).
The north wind will weaken to 6–11 meters per second, no strong gusts are expected. No atmospheric phenomena are forecast, however due to night frosts and previously fallen snow, ice will remain on roads.
