The Ministry of Transport of Samara Oblast has imposed a temporary restriction on the federal highway M-5 «Ural». The department reported this on Tuesday morning, February 3.

The federal highway M-5 «Ural» is closed to heavy-duty and route vehicles. The restriction applies to the section from kilometer 890 to 972. It passes through the Stavropolsky and Syzransky districts.

The reason is the deterioration of weather conditions. A blizzard is observed in the region, visibility has dropped to 500-1000 meters, and there are snowdrifts on the roads.

Meteorologists and specialists from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) reported on this yesterday. Two danger levels have been declared in the region – yellow and orange. Also, the Privolzhsky UGMS (Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring) published a storm warning.

«The restriction is in effect from 8:30 to 15:00. The end time may be changed if weather conditions persist or worsen. Take care of yourselves and be careful on the road!» – appealed to drivers representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Samara Oblast.

We are providing live coverage of the blizzard.
