Oktyabrsky District road cleaning violations uncovered — problematic streets listed

An administrative case has been initiated against Dmitry Kolpakov, head of the administration of Oktyabrsky District in Novosibirsk, due to improper road maintenance.
The prosecutor«s office inspected the roads in Oktyabrsky District. The inspection was attended by the district administration head, a State Traffic Inspectorate officer, the head of the Road Improvement Department of the city hall, and the director of Municipal Unitary Enterprise »Oktyabrskoye« (MUE).
«As a result of the measures, violations were identified in the timely cleaning of road sections and pedestrian zones, committed by the district administration,» the prosecutor«s office reported.
Slippery sections, ruts, snow drifts on curbstones, and ice were among the problems found on streets including Kirov, Sacco and Vanzetti, Leskov, Bolshevistskaya, Inskaya, Khitrovskaya, Vybornaya, Nikitina, Leningradskaya, Proletarskaya, Guryevskaya, Garamina, as well as on Oktyabrskaya Highway.
The prosecutor of Oktyabrsky District submitted a formal proposal to the head of the district administration, and following its review, officials were held disciplinarily accountable.
«The deputy head of the district, whose responsibilities included issues of street and road network maintenance, has been dismissed from municipal service at her own request,» added the prosecutor«s office.
An administrative offense case has been initiated against the district head under Part 1, Article 12.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with requirements for ensuring road traffic safety during construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of roads).
Following the inspection, an additional 57 units of snow removal equipment were brought to the district.
NGS has contacted the Novosibirsk city hall for a comment on the situation.
On January 22, NGS reported that residents of Oktyabrsky District in Novosibirsk were having difficulty driving on Obskaya Street due to snow.
