Flight delay strands Kazan passengers overnight at airport

In Kazan, passengers on a flight to Phuket, Thailand, had their departure delayed, forcing them to spend the night right in the terminal. A reader of 116.RU shared photos of the improvised «sleeping arrangements»—on the floor and benches.

The plane from Kazan was supposed to depart on January 21 at 21:40, but the flight never took off. According to our interviewee, the airport explained the delay by saying a bird had struck the engine, so the crew was waiting for permission to depart from Moscow.

«Then they talked about drones and so on, each time delaying the departure...» the resident said.

Passengers were given water, buckwheat with sausages, as well as chairs and mats so they could at least rest a bit. Overall, according to the woman, people remained calm, but some «started to lose their nerve.»

«Since they distributed a maximum of 20 mats and there weren»t enough for everyone—those who could get comfortable slept, the others partly suffered,« the passenger shared.
Judging by the photos, they tried to brighten the wait: some bought warming drinks and soda—so that the night at the airport wouldn«t be so dreary.
In the end, they managed to fly out: the flight departed on January 22 at around 11 a.m. Passengers spent about 13 hours at the airport.
Recall that yesterday at Kazan airport, more than 15 arrival and departure flights were delayed due to airspace closure.
