Avtodor Discusses Raising Tolls on M-12 Highway

The company Avtodor may increase tolls on its paid highways, according to the words of the organization«s board chairman Vyacheslav Petushenko. The manager explained such measures by the general rise in prices for goods and services, as well as the fact that maintenance of transport facilities has become more expensive.
«There is inflation, costs are rising for everyone, including road maintenance. Therefore, of course, we are considering [this issue] … The decision must be verified very carefully: so that the consumer does not feel it, and the road does not lose in its operational characteristics,» Petushenko is quoted by Interfax.
However, how much exactly the tariffs will be raised, the chairman of Avtodor«s board did not specify. Possible parameters are currently being discussed within the company.
Talks that tariffs on M-12 will increase have been ongoing since November last year. Then, Avtodor noted that this is not a sharp increase, but a planned indexation that occurs at the beginning of the year.
Currently, the cost of travel on the longest segment — from Moscow to the village of Shali in Tatarstan — is 5,399 rubles (approximately $54 at current rates) for passenger cars, 8,274 rubles (about $83) for SUVs and minivans, 10,334 rubles (about $103) for trucks, buses, and special equipment with a height of 2.6 meters (8.5 feet), 11,925 rubles (about $119) for oversized transport.
