At a committee meeting of the Legislative Assembly on January 22, deputy Tatyana Grinevich addressed Deputy Minister of Transport Denis Ryabinin with a question about stopping frequent bus route changes.
Ryabinin, who presented a report on the state of public transport and driver staffing, indicated that the next adjustments are expected after the opening of the Sennaya and Ploshchad Svobody (Freedom Square) metro stations.
«When we launch Sennaya and Ploshchad Svobody, we might change the routes again; some will have to be made into circular ones,» the deputy minister was quoted as saying.
He emphasized that final decisions will depend on passenger traffic and residents« opinions. In parallel, plans are underway to expand the route network to remote and new residential areas.
The construction of metro stations in the upper part of the city is intended to be completed by mid-2027, although the initial deadline was set for the end of 2025. Work is currently ongoing at the site, tunneling between stations and installing six thousand brackets for cable lines.
