A 16-year-old teenager climbed into a tank on the grounds of the «Russia – My History» museum through the lower hatch in the bottom. He entered the combat compartment, where he accidentally activated the emergency gun barrel release mechanism. He was struck on the head and died on the spot. This was reported on January 20 in the Telegram channel «Echo of the Capital».
The mayor of Yakutsk, Yevgeny Grigoryev, confirmed the incident in his Telegram channel. According to him, investigators are working at the scene. The city head expressed condolences to the relatives.
A NATO military trophies exhibition opened on the museum grounds in November 2025 for the Day of People«s Unity and the anti-fascist forum »People and Army Are One – 2025«.
The exhibition included an infantry fighting vehicle, a BTR «Bucephalus», and Finnish, French, and American armored personnel carriers brought to Yakutsk.
