Six children evacuated from flooded Bashkiria villages

A total of 68 people, including six children, were evacuated from flooded settlements in the Askinsky district. Earlier, about 30 people left one of the villages on their own — their plots were flooded by the rising water.

At a government operational meeting, State Committee for Emergency Situations head Kirill Pervov reported that flooding also occurred in the Belokataisky district — the Nyazepetrovsk reservoir discharged water into the Ufa River, causing the water level to rise and flooding five household plots. By July 20, the situation had stabilized, with the water level dropping by 20 cm.

In the Askinsky district, the latest data shows 74 houses and two roads flooded. Sixty-eight people, including six children, were evacuated. Due to heavy rains, the water level in the Sars River rose by 155 cm. In the village of Ushady, the level dropped by 23 cm, in Churashevo by 20 cm, and in Sultanbekovo it «remains high» (Pervov did not specify exact figures).

Four settlements with a total population of about 800 people were affected. There are no casualties.

However, little time was devoted to the situation in northern Bashkiria. Much more was spent listing improvement projects in villages and towns of Bashkiria. The fact that nearly a thousand people are currently without drinking water went unnoticed.

About a dozen volunteers brought humanitarian aid to residents of the flooded areas: two tons of supplies were provided, including from a local sanatorium. Entrepreneurs donated food, water, matches, hygiene products, pasta, tea, sunflower oil, sugar, and bread.

«As a result of the flood, three streets have been flooded. Six elderly residents living alone have been temporarily moved to other homes where safe living conditions have been created,» the district authorities reported.
