Samara Carrier Fined for Dangerous River Cruises

The Arbitration Court of Samara Region considered a complaint from representatives of the Kuibyshev Transport Prosecutor«s Office. They demanded that one of the local cruise companies be held accountable.
«It was established that on four motor ships carrying passengers on the Volga River, regulatory requirements for storage of fuels and lubricants and operation of electrical appliances were not met. Such circumstances affected the fire safety condition of the vessels and could have led to emergency situations,» — stated representatives of the agency.
To ensure passenger safety, the Kuibyshev Transport Prosecutor sent a representation to the director of the cruise company. Afterwards, measures were taken to comply with technical regulations and the identified violations were eliminated.
Nevertheless, hearings were held in the Arbitration Court of Samara Region on the administrative offense case. The company was held liable under the article «Violation of Technical Regulations Requirements.» It now faces a fine of 150,000 rubles ($1,700).
Cruise firms are not the only ones facing such lawsuits. Recently, one airline had to pay a fine of 32,000 rubles ($356). The reason is that in early May 2026, passengers were stuck for 12 hours in Kurumoch (Samara«s airport), and they were not provided with food, drink, and hotel accommodations in a timely manner.
