KAMAZ Veer Causes Fatal Crash on Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk 'Death Highway'
The SUV was crushed after colliding with a heavy truck.
Another fatal traffic accident occurred on the «death highway» between Tyumen and Khanty-Mansiysk. This was reported by the State Traffic Inspectorate of Yugra.
The accident happened at the 838th kilometer of the highway, in the Nefteyugansk district. According to preliminary data, a KAMAZ truck driven by a 63-year-old driver veered into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a UAZ. The impact from the heavy truck crushed the SUV. The driver of the UAZ died from sustained injuries.
The State Traffic Inspectorate is investigating all circumstances of the incident.
Previously, we reported that last year in Yugra, 221 road traffic accidents involving pedestrians were recorded, in which 219 people were injured and 12 died. The number of accidents caused by pedestrians decreased by 10%. The highest number of pedestrian-involved accidents were registered in Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut, and Nefteyugansk.
We also wrote that 22 people died on the roads of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug last year due to drunk drivers. Another 166 Yugra residents were injured.
