Police in Cheremkhovo have detained a man who fired a shot in a public place. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Irkutsk Region.

According to police information, an unknown man was walking with a rifle on Oleg Koshevoy Street and fired a shot. Patrol officers promptly arrived at the scene and detained the offender. He turned out to be a 46-year-old local resident. The man was handed over to the investigative-operational group for further proceedings.
During the inspection, police seized a smoothbore rifle of an unidentified model, a shell casing, a cartridge, and a kitchen knife. The weapon has been sent for ballistic examination.
The detainee explained that he was going to meet his cohabitant, heard sounds similar to firecracker explosions, and allegedly decided to shoot in response.
Administrative reports have been filed against the man for firing a weapon in unauthorized places and for evading administrative punishment. Additionally, the issue of initiating a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 222 of the Russian Criminal Code is currently being considered — for illegal storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
