City Day in Voronezh is currently planned to be held in a full format this year. However, due to the operational situation, event plans may change. Mayor Sergei Petrin stated this on July 20.
«Everyone understands perfectly that depending on the situation, a decision will be made in the final days,» the city head explained. He also added that tenders to find contractors for city decoration and event security will proceed as planned.
It will be recalled that this year City Day will not be held on the traditional third week of September, but on the 12th. The holiday was moved due to the elections for the 9th convocation of the State Duma deputies, which will be held nationwide from September 18 to 20.
Last year, Voronezh City Day was celebrated on September 20. The holiday was relatively modest: all events ended by 6:00 PM, there was no fireworks display, and it rained almost all day. Last year’s City Day was also marked by low attendance — only 55,000 Voronezh residents took to the streets to celebrate.
