The tram was traveling on route No. 8, but near Hero Smirnov Street, the car derailed. The tracks had not been cleared in time, and there were snowdrifts in the vehicle«s path.
It is reported that utility workers are now digging out the tram. According to online maps, the car still cannot resume movement.
Earlier, Nizhny Novgorod Mayor Yuri Shalabaev said that the past night was the snowiest during a week of bad weather. In just one night, 45 thousand cubic meters of snow were removed from city roads and streets — the highest figure in all recent snowy days.
Snow removal will be intensified this evening, when the intensity of the snowfall decreases.
