Tambov District Wins XX Summer Rural Games

The XX regional summer rural sports games took place in Znamensky district (Tambov Region). The competitions serve as a qualifying round for the All-Russian final and are part of the calendar of the state program «Sport of Russia,» the regional Ministry of Sports reported.

Fifteen teams from various municipalities of Tambov Region participated. The program included seven sports: athletics, mini-football, street basketball, kettlebell lifting, darts, tug of war, and volleyball.

The team from Tambov Municipal District became the multiple champion of the games. The athletes from the Tambov District achieved high results: first place in athletics, second places in basketball and tug of war, third places in football and volleyball. The team«s final score was 181 points.

Silver medals were won by athletes from Michurinsk Municipal District, who scored 177 points. They placed first in darts, second in athletics, and third in tug of war.

For the first time, the bronze prize went to the team from Muchkap District, earning 172 points. Athletes from this municipality were the best in tug of war and volleyball.

«Many teams take preparation and participation very seriously — their level has noticeably grown. In some events, a fierce struggle unfolds. Rural games are, first and foremost, an event promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and motivating rural residents to engage in sports,» said the regional minister of sports, Pavel Gritskov.

Promoting an active and healthy lifestyle in rural areas is a crucial task for improving the quality of life of the rural population. Annually, over 300 regional physical education and mass sports events are held in Tambov Region, more than 3,000 municipal-level competitions, and about 40 major all-Russian competitions.
