Sochi Mayor Explains Repeated Delays in School Construction in Bytkha

Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin visited the under-construction school on Yasnogorskaya Street. It is stated that the overall readiness of the educational facility, designed for 1,100 places, is over 93 percent. Construction of the building«s monolithic structures, brick wall and partition masonry, roofing, and laying of utility networks has been completed.
Recall that in mid-December, Andrey Proshunin promised to commission the school by the end of 2025. At that time, it was reported that the facility was 91 percent ready.
At the beginning of the year, State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin reported that 340 million rubles (approximately $3.4 million at current rates) were lacking to complete the construction of the institution.
According to the Sochi administration«s press service, commissioning work on the ventilation system complex is currently underway at the site. In parallel, equipment for fire and security alarms, evacuation warning and control systems, as well as lighting is being installed. Finishing work is being completed, and internal premises are being cleaned. The installation of plumbing equipment has been fully completed.
— We keep the construction of all educational facilities, including the school in the Bytkha microdistrict, under constant control. This facility has been under construction for several years, and unfortunately, its completion deadlines have been postponed multiple times. There were objective reasons for this, primarily the complex mountainous terrain, which significantly adjusted construction processes and required substantial reinforcement of retaining walls to strengthen the slopes, as well as the original project with innovative architectural solutions and materials used. However, we fully understand that this school is not just a building but an extremely important facility for all residents of the microdistrict. It is eagerly awaited, and we are making every effort to put a period in this story this year: to complete, equip, and launch it, — promised Proshunin.
Now, all construction and installation work is promised to be completed in the second quarter of 2026. The mayor claims that contractors have brought in additional forces to finish the work as quickly as possible.
— Immediately after that, we will proceed to the most important stage — equipping the school with modern equipment, furniture, and licensing. The work on selecting personnel — the director, teachers, all employees — has already begun, — asserts Proshunin.
Currently in the design stage are a general education school (lyceum) for 1,100 places in the village of Esto-Sadok, a primary school block for 200 places in the Orel-Izumrud microdistrict, a general education school for 220 places in the Uch-Dere settlement, and a school for 200 places on Pirogova Street. Investors plan to build a general education school and kindergarten on Krasnodonskaya Street. A construction permit has been obtained for a kindergarten on Fadeeva Street, and construction and installation work will begin in the first quarter of this year. The project is also being implemented by investors.
