Rossety Fully Restores Power Supply in Murmansk and Severomorsk

Power supply to homes has been fully restored after the outage caused by severe weather conditions.
On January 31, specialists from Rossety Severo-Zapad (North-West) eliminated the cause of the power supply disruption. Due to strong winds and icing at temperatures below -31 °C (-24 °F), the lightning protection cable on the power transmission line was damaged. The power line poles themselves were not affected.
The outage affected less than 20% of residents in Murmansk and Severomorsk (a closed administrative-territorial formation). After the accident signal, energy workers immediately carried out necessary switchovers. Boiler houses and part of residential buildings were quickly switched to backup power.
Currently, electricity is being supplied in full. Companies responsible for the distribution networks in the region continue to connect all consumers.
Recall that part of Murmansk and Severomorsk was left without power again. Andrey Chibis reported on the causes of the repeated accident.
Public transport in Murmansk was switched to a special operating mode, and street lighting was turned off. Schoolchildren in Murmansk had all classes canceled on January 31. We reported which supermarkets were forced to temporarily close. The Murmansk Sea Trade Port (MMTP) also suspended its operations.
Also, the head of Severomorsk, Vladimir Evmenkov, announced a list of addresses where electricity might disappear. The administration of Murmansk told where people should go who found themselves in apartments without power again.
The prosecutor«s office of the Murmansk region has already started an investigation due to mass power outages in the region on January 23, and a criminal case has been initiated. It turned out that the fallen power line poles had been in service for almost 60 years.
