Tyumen Vodokanal has published the results of analysis of resident appeals and water quality monitoring. The figures clearly demonstrate positive results from the reconstruction of water treatment facilities.
The introduction of new technologies has led to an improvement in water treatment quality. For example, in terms of color, turbidity, and iron content, indicators have halved and are now several times lower than the maximum permissible concentrations set by SanPiN standards.
The number of resident complaints about water quality has decreased fourfold. At the same time, the number of water utility subscribers is increasing annually, not only due to the growth of the regional center but also through the addition of new territories.
«After connecting to the city, the water in our village has become much cleaner. Plumbing doesn»t yellow, there«s no scale in the kettle, but most importantly, the water is clear, without a yellow tint — not like it was before. We»ve stopped buying water from water dispensers,« said Svetlana Tolstikova, a resident of Borovsky village in the Tyumen district.
Modernization work on water treatment facilities is being carried out under a concession agreement, which was concluded in 2017 between the regional government, the city administration, and Tyumen Vodokanal. In 2021, the enterprise completed the reconstruction of the Velizhansky water intake. Currently, work on the Metelevsky water treatment facilities is in the final stages.
«In our area, the water is very difficult to treat. Underground sources are oversaturated with iron and manganese. On the Tura River above Tyumen, many industrial enterprises operate. The river is fed from swamps, very capricious and challenging to treat. We study the latest scientific developments. We apply innovative and sometimes unique technologies in our work,» said Olga Sarbaeva, General Director of Rosvodokanal Tyumen.
At the Metelevsky water treatment facilities, innovative installations have been implemented: a system for removing manganese; an automated carbonation station improves the organoleptic properties of water; a soda installation normalizes pH levels; thin-layer modules remove fine suspensions, and much more.
Investments in the modernization of the Metelevsky water treatment facilities have exceeded 2.263 billion rubles (approximately $25,144,400 at current rates). In 2026, the reconstruction will be completed. The facilities will provide clean water for 75% of the needs of the Tyumen agglomeration.
