Readers Report Pushy Sellers Offering Goods in Arkhangelsk

Unknown individuals are driving around Arkhangelsk and persistently offering residents to buy various items from them. They typically approach pensioners and women, but sometimes they offer goods to men as well. Readers of 29.RU have also shared their encounters with strange door-to-door sellers. We have compiled their stories in this article.
«He offered black caviar from the Far East»
According to comments on the website and social media, residents of Arkhangelsk encounter sellers in various parts of the city: in Solombala, in the center, on Varavino, and in other places.
— «Itinerants,» writes Guest. — «I was standing near ‘Polyus’, waiting for my people, they offered household appliances. When I refused, there was aggression. They were in two or three cars from different regions.»
— «On Pochtovy Trakt, a similar car approached when my husband and I were standing near the entrance. The driver — dark-haired, young — offered black caviar from the Far East. I don’t remember the license plates anymore, but definitely not region 29…» reports Yulia.
— «They approached me twice on Varavino. The first time they offered bed linen, the second time — pillows and blankets. Region 31, white car. In my opinion, they are Roma,» believes Lyubov.
— «A man drove up to me on Vyucheyskogo and offered a ‘Zepter’ brand pot for just 500 rubles (approximately $5 at current rates). I told him I didn’t need it,» adds Anna.
— «In Solombala, similar to Roma, they offered ‘Zepter’ pots,» echoes an anonymous user. — «I was in a hurry, they didn’t have time to state the price.»
«The police drove by — he got in the car and left»
Here are a few more stories from Arkhangelsk. One reader, for example, claims that the sellers are afraid of the police.
— «On Polyarnaya Street in Solombala, he offered a power generator in the trunk — new, with documents. Allegedly ‘flying to Armenia urgently need to sell’. The man in a gray jacket, car the same as in the photo. A police car with flashing lights drove by — he immediately got in the car and left,» provides another example.
— «Today my grandmother went to take out the trash, and one such person in a car pestered her too. He offered bed linen — three sets for 50 rubles (approximately $0.50 at current rates). He insisted on coming into the house, allegedly need to sell the last one, otherwise it will be confiscated at the border. She refused, he left. My grandmother has very poor eyesight, she can’t describe him. Isakogorsky District, Second Line.»
— «On Kronstadtsky, two were walking parallel, offered toilet water and an angle grinder. They said that ‘if anything, there is more’, but on Polyarnaya.»
Interestingly, traders have been seen not only in Arkhangelsk but also in other settlements of Pomorye.
— «They drive around Bereznik. They came to us, offered clothes,» tells Lyudmila.
— «In Kholmogory, they also stopped, offered caviar, a pillow, bed linen,» writes Galina.
«Perhaps everything is infectious»
Information that the sellers are ‘visiting’ and ‘Roma’ by nationality is repeated by many users online. But where they are from — is not known, and many guess which region they came from.
— «Roma have arrived and are trading all sorts of junk,» believes Vladimir.
— «They are swindlers,» suggests Sergey.
— «Perhaps everything is infectious,» fears Sabina.
— «Roma. They arrived in Arkhangelsk Oblast on November 10 simultaneously in 6–7 cars. Region 68, I think, Tambov Oblast,» writes Sergey.
There are also commentators who reacted more calmly to the news about the sellers. And some perceived the situation with humor.
— «They drive around every year, offering to buy something.»
— «When prices rose on everything, people found a new way of realization — from wheels.»
— «Why all the fuss? If you don’t want, don’t buy.»
Someone even recalled that there were plenty of such traders in the 90s.
— «Haven’t seen such in a long time, they used to go around apartments. I even let one in, just was curious to see the level of marketing. I warned him right away that I wouldn’t buy, he started dumping everything out of his bag immediately. He says: ‘These are gifts for you.’ A candle and some other trifle, he went on for about five minutes. I looked at everything, said: ‘That’s it, you’re free.’ And he took the gifts back,» tells an anonymous guest of the site.
«Need to write statements»
The Ministry of Internal Affairs for Arkhangelsk Oblast explained to 29.RU that their employees are already working on the reports online.
— «Regarding the abundance of reports about unlawful actions by unidentified citizens — no one has filed statements with the police. Law enforcement agencies are conducting a check based on the information posted online,» reported the department.
And in the comments, readers continue to call on the authorities to pay attention to this situation.
— «Police, please take note! This is not a fake, and not a joke!» writes a site user.
— «So there are no statements. Need to write statements, especially since there is a car number,» explains another.
