Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Gleb Nikitin published photos in his Telegram channel showing the current state of the new ice arena. Fine finishing of the premises is 95% complete, with only a few weeks left until handover.
Commissioning work is continuing on site. As the governor noted, installation of engineering equipment and internal utilities are in the final stage.
Gleb Nikitin emphasized that the Ice Palace will not just be a sports facility, but a new attraction point on Strelka, organically integrated into the emerging cultural and sports cluster.
«It is awaited by thousands of fans, professional and amateur athletes. Our common dream, which once started with sketches and plans, has today materialized into a real, modern facility,» stated the head of the region.
Initially, it was planned that the hockey club «Torpedo» would move to the new arena by the end of December 2025. However, in November, Gleb Nikitin announced the postponement of this event to 2026. General Director of the Center for Sports Management and Development in the region Maxim Gafurov later clarified that the approximate opening date is early March, but exact dates are not specified as they may be adjusted.
