Ice causes power outage in Volgograd village again

A view of Gornaya Proleyka village where residents faced repeated power outages caused by ice accumulation.
On the evening of January 31, Gornaya Proleyka village in Dubovsky District, Volgograd Oblast, was plunged into darkness again due to a power outage.
This is already the second incident in the past two days: on January 30, two villages – Gornaya Proleyka and Gorny Bakyley – were left without power. Electricity supply was restored only in the morning of January 31, but it was interrupted again in the evening.
Local residents describe the situation: «Today, the power went out around five in the evening,» residents say. «For about 15 minutes, it flickered: it would turn on, then off. We don»t understand what«s happening. There»s no snowfall, no ice, no wind. Maybe there«s a breakdown somewhere, but no one warned us. We»re sitting with candles again. Yesterday we sat all day, only this morning they gave us power – we were happy. And now again.«
The press service of the branch of PJSC Rosseti South (Rossety-Yug) explained the cause as unfavorable weather conditions: «In the specified area, due to unfavorable weather conditions, ice accumulation is observed. To prevent technical violations, power engineers are carrying out ice melting on individual sections of the overhead power line. Therefore, short-term power supply restrictions are possible. Power supply to consumers in the specified settlement is planned to be restored within two hours.»
Later, the company reported that all consumers have already been connected. Village residents confirmed the return of electricity.
Due to worsening weather conditions, particularly the accumulation of wet snow on wires, Rosseti South has switched to a state of special readiness. «If necessary, power engineering teams promptly respond to household consumer appeals and eliminate local technical violations,» the press service of Rosseti South reported. «Reports of power supply disruptions and noticed damage to energy facilities can be made by calling the company»s contact center at 8 800 220-02-20 or the short number 220 (for mobile devices).«
