'I Don't Understand How People Live Here,' Student Criticizes Krasnodar

A 20-year-old student from Timashevsk published a video on social media on January 27, in which she explained why her dream city—Krasnodar—turned out to be unsuitable for comfortable living.
The girl moved here to study at university. She initially planned to tie her life to Krasnodar.
«I dreamed of moving to Krasnodar to live here, to raise children here, to have my own apartment here, and so on.»
But, according to her, the reality of life in the regional center was far from expectations.
«I don»t understand how people live here; for me, a metropolis equals survival.«
Separately, the student focused on the problem of transport and traffic jams. In her opinion, daily trips around the city become an ordeal.
«I imagine that people, to get to work in the morning if they need to be there by 8:00 a.m., some get up at 5:00 to leave at 6:00 on buses, minibuses, trams, and so on. Because here there are huge distances and, what is also important, huge traffic jams.»
She added that the road situation in Krasnodar is overloaded at any time of day.
«Simply all of Krasnodar is burgundy in color. Whether in the morning or in the evening.»
Also, the girl is clearly under an unpleasant impression from the number of residents.
«I really don»t like this city for its noise, for this constant hustle and bustle. A crowd of people, wherever you look, people are looking at you everywhere. For me, it«s just a huge anthill. …Where a bunch of people were settled who don»t know what to do with themselves.«
In comparison with Krasnodar, Timashevsk, according to her, looks much more calm and convenient for living.
«You can calmly drive around the city, in 20 minutes there are never traffic jams, in general, everyone knows each other.»
Separately, the student touched on the topic of earnings. According to her, working as a trainer in Krasnodar turned out to be less profitable than in her hometown.
«I worked here as a trainer in two studios and earned three times less than I earn in Timashevsk.»
At the same time, she emphasized that the income level, in her opinion, does not always depend on the size of the city.
«I am sure, if you want to earn, even if you live in a stanitsa (Cossack village), you will earn.»
Particular indignation for the girl was caused by taxi prices.
«I had classes today at 10:00 a.m. A taxi for 1.2 kilometers cost 800 rubles (about $9 at current rates). I am not the kind of person who will spend that much to travel 1.2 kilometers.»
Now the student is 20 years old, she is studying in her third year and has already transferred to correspondence form of education due to difficulties with traffic jams.
In conclusion, the girl emphasized that she no longer considers Krasnodar as a place for future life.
«If we talk about where I would like to start a family, where I would like my children to grow up, where I would like to meet old age—it is definitely not a million-plus city, and especially not Krasnodar.»
