Gagarin Park in Chelyabinsk gets new director for second time in three months

The city administration confirmed Alexander Yeremin will take over as head of the park, marking another leadership change in the municipal institution.

The management of Gagarin Park in Chelyabinsk is changing again. The Chelyabinsk administration confirmed this information on Saturday, January 31.

«The new head of the park is Alexander Yeremin. He starts his duties on Monday,» 74.RU was told by the city hall.

The reason for the personnel changes was not commented on. It is known that Alexander Yeremin previously worked as the director of the municipal Victory Garden, and was subsequently replaced by Igor Yegorov.

Meanwhile, the previous director of Gagarin Park, Ilya Alekseyev, managed to work for less than three months. His appointment was reported at the end of November—a forced measure because his predecessor was in a pre-trial detention center. On the park«s official website, Alekseyev is still listed as the head.

Recall that before Alekseyev, the park was headed by Zhazit Nurgazinov, who was detained in October last year. A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of abuse of official authority. According to the investigation, Nurgazinov signed a contract for the supply of attractions worth 86 million rubles (about $1.1 million at current rates), understanding that this was inappropriate because «part of the acquired property was sold at an inflated price, was illiquid and had significant wear and tear.» The Investigative Committee published a video of searches at the suspect«s home (showing a fireplace, paintings, and a lot of cash).

Gagarin Park operates as a municipal autonomous institution, established in 1994. The founder is the Committee for Culture. The MAU does not publish financial statements; the latest data in the Kontur.Focus system is dated the end of 2010. Then the revenue was 75.7 million rubles (about $946,300 at current rates), net profit 1.6 million rubles (about $20,000 at current rates).
