Ferris wheel relocates from central Volgograd to southern district
The Ferris wheel in Central Park, Volgograd, has been completely dismantled, and all its parts have been moved to the Krasnoarmeysky district.

The dismantling of the legendary Ferris wheel in Volgograd«s Central Park of Culture and Recreation has been fully completed. All structural elements have already been delivered to the Krasnoarmeysky district, where after reconstruction, they will form the basis of a new attraction on Engel»s Boulevard.
Plans to relocate the 50-meter (164-foot) Ferris wheel became known in September. At that time, the park director announced that a new, 120-meter (394-foot) Ferris wheel would appear in place of the old attraction. The park administration confirmed that the last seven passenger cabins have been sent to the Krasnoarmeysky district, and assembly work will soon begin on Engel«s Boulevard.
«Currently, all elements of the Ferris wheel: 40 spokes each 25 meters long, 240 connecting elements, rims, drive mechanisms, and other structures — are at the contractor»s base. Before assembly, the parts are undergoing sandblasting. The passenger cabins themselves will be modernized: the contractor will install new air conditioning systems. Additionally, the 50-meter wheel along with the cabins will be painted red and receive a new name — «Red Sun». There are only a few attractions of this color worldwide, one of the most famous being «Red Horse» in Osaka, Japan,« the park administration said.
Work on Engel«s Boulevard is already underway: the foundation for the wheel was recently completed. The attraction is expected to become a key entertainment object in the district. From its height, views will open up onto the entire boulevard, the Volga-Don Canal, and the Volga River. The opening is planned for the current warm season.
