Fake News on Indian Migrant Housing Refuted in Urals

A screenshot with a message about the introduction of housing quotas for specialists from India in Sverdlovsk Region was circulating on social networks and messengers. The regional anti-terrorism commission officially refuted this information, calling it fake.

Perpetrators designed the false news as if it was published by the outlet «UralPolit.Ru». The portal«s editorial office stated that the material titled »A third of apartments in new buildings — for specialists from India: Sverdlovsk Region introduced housing quotas for migrants« was never posted on their site, and they were not involved in writing it. At »UralPolit.Ru«, this publication was assessed as part of an information attack on the outlet.
The commission «Anti-Terror Ural» pointed out that similar fake messages, aimed at inciting interethnic discord, have been recorded in other Russian regions. The spread of false data is occurring during the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
The authority called on citizens to critically approach information from unverified sources and check facts on official resources of government bodies. For the intentional spread of knowingly false information, both administrative and criminal liability are provided.
