Large stones have begun appearing on roads in the center of Chita and its outskirts after they were sprinkled with sand. Such stones fly into neighboring cars and even damaged the windshield of one Chita resident. Several city residents reported the stones on the roads to a Chita.Ru correspondent.

‘Belika Street was «sprinkled» with sand. Look at the cobblestones lying there. It«s scary to drive… God forbid such a stone flies into a car,’ writes a local resident.

Stones were observed on Lenin Street in the evening of January 31, as shown by an eyewitness.

However, another Chita resident had a stone hit and break her window.

‘They sprinkle it like this in many places. I saw such large cobblestones at the GRES, they sprinkle roads along public transport routes, I saw it at KSK, on Rakhova Street, on General Belik Street, at the Babushkina – Shilova circle. Because cars grind on the road, or in general while driving, all this flies in different directions. My windshield was broken by a cobblestone that flew off an oncoming car on Razdolny Avenue at the GRES. It seems the stone was of significant size, because I immediately got a chip on the windshield. The repair cost me one and a half thousand rubles (approximately $15 at current rates),’ says a city resident.

Such stones were also on Lenin Street on the evening of January 31.
