AI imagines Kemerovo's future with robots, spaceships, and a DeLorean

Neural networks have generated speculative images of how Kemerovo might look in 10 years, featuring elements from robots to a DeLorean.

Recently, a trend about revisiting 2016 has been gaining momentum on social networks, causing users to post their photos from that period. The editorial team of NGS42.RU already tried to take our readers back in time and created a test for those who remember the 2010s well in Kemerovo. However, that wasn«t enough for us, and we decided to think about how the regional capital might look by 2036.

Since we aren«t oracles in the editorial office, we decided to turn to neural networks for help and ask them how various famous places in Kemerovo might look if ten years had passed since they were photographed. Several results really surprised us.

The regional administration building is portrayed with a cyberhuman figure but retains its aged appearance.

Despite the same prompt for each photo, the results vary greatly in mood. Some places look like buildings damaged by the aftermath of an attack or a zombie apocalypse, while others appear as futuristic and unrealistic images.

Flying cars, including a DeLorean parody, are added to Kemerovo«s streets in this futuristic vision.

The former Moscow cinema, which has been non-operational for several years, would suffer the most from time, and the possibility that this could happen to the building in reality cannot be denied. AI predicted a similar fate for the Bobrov Musical Theater. However, such a future for the institution seems unlikely.

At some point, the neural network changed its tune and remembered that it was asked to contemplate the future, not just age buildings. The first photo where something resembling a future image appears is the regional administration building, with a cyberhuman walking in, but the building itself hasn«t changed, only aged.

Another amusing attempt to add futurism to Kemerovo is flying cars. It«s unclear in what space and time this parody of the DeLorean flies, and its appearance raises many questions. Moreover, a traffic light with 5 signals is also perplexing.

What building is blocking Sovetsky Prospekt is unknown. Perhaps in a hundred years, such architectural forms might even be possible, but the appearance of two mirrored behemoths in the next decade is a story straight out of science fiction.

On the topic of constructions, here is the most grandiose planned structure not only in the city but in the region. For comparison, we took a version of the project, and now one can ponder which option is more appealing: from AI or from living architects.

It is with Park Chudes that real progress begins towards flying saucers, incredible spaceships, and futuristic buildings. And the city gradually fills with unimaginable images, as if from a movie about the future.

What is most endearing is that the neural network preserves the external appearance of old buildings and adds unimaginable machines and developments to them. It«s frightening even to imagine how much such a step into the future would cost.

The most unusual was the last frame from the neural network. Here, it completely let loose and replaced the pipes of the local thermal power plant with wind energy installations. AI seemed to see the capital of Kuzbass as a place that cares about ecology.

For example, it installed solar panels on the site next to the Tom River, as well as on the embankment lamps. What the unusual semicircular building on the right bank is, is unclear, but it evokes associations with another sports facility, like LDK or Arena.

Previously, the editorial team of NGS42.RU already showed what the city would look like if it were knitted together, what historical buildings would look like if they weren«t abandoned, and what the city would look like if it were given to China.
