Accident on 'Sever-2' Pipeline in Kurgan Fixed: Heat Returning to Homes

Kurgan Generation Company (KGK) has fixed the accident on the «Sever-2» heat pipeline. Starting from 12:00 today, specialists began filling the system with coolant, according to the press service of Kurgan Generation Company.
«A seven-meter section of pipe had to be replaced. Repairing a one-meter diameter pipe requires precision at every stage. The new pipe section must fit without gaps, which requires preparatory work. The staff worked cohesively and promptly. Now our task is to restart the consumers as quickly as possible,» said Yevgeny Filimonov, director of the Heat Networks subsidiary of PJSC KGK.
Restoring heat supply to the Severny district, as well as the areas around Nekrasova, Dzerzhinskogo streets, and Mashinostroiteley Avenue, will take several hours. In the central part of the city, normal thermal-hydraulic conditions will be restored within the day.
Kurgan Generation Company explained that if radiators in apartments remain cold or heat unevenly after the pipeline is started, it could be due to air in the system. In such cases, it«s necessary to contact the management company so that plumbers can bleed the air in the basement or on upper floors.
Recall that the accident on the «Sever-2» heat pipeline occurred on January 31. Crews had to pump water out of the pipeline channel to reach the rupture site. It was only by 21:30 that the exact damage location was determined.
