Kolchak's Gold Treasure Map in Novosibirsk Region
During the gold train«s journey from Kazan to Irkutsk, much of the cargo appeared to vanish.
Residents of villages and hamlets in the Novosibirsk Region regularly share legends that fabulous riches are buried very close to their settlements. NGS journalists mapped out the points where, according to locals, the legendary Kolchak«s gold might be hidden. Part of the treasure was stolen right from an armored train. The resulting map was shown to local historians, and they found out how true these legends are and if there»s any logic to them.

By the way, there is gold in the Novosibirsk Region, though not in coins or bars. The precious metal has been mined in the village of Yegoryevskoye in the Maslyaninsky District for 200 years. The villagers have turned their unusual way of life into a tourist brand and now earn from their history.
