In Novosibirsk, a coin with a portrait of Nicholas II is being sold. The asking price is 110,000 rubles (about $1,200 at current rates). The ad was posted on the Avito website.

The description states that the coin«s denomination is 10 rubles. It was issued in 1899 and is made of gold.

As seller Alexander told NGS, he obtained the coin by chance—as change in a store.

«I went out for bread near my house about eight years ago and threw the change into a piggy bank without looking. Then came the crisis, VAT increased, I broke the piggy bank, and there was the coin,» the Siberian said.

On other websites, the price for such a specimen varies from 20,000 to 624,000 rubles (about $220 to $6,900 at current rates).

The ad was published on January 30. At the time of writing, it had been viewed 23 times.

Previously, it was reported that in Novosibirsk, another ancient coin is being sold — for 2 million rubles (about $22,200 at current rates).
